About Jim

A Dedicated Real Estate Agent

Jim started in Real Estate in 1980 with the prominent independent company Tomie  Raines Inc. This was when he formulated much of the philosophy for the rest of his career. After 36 years in Real Estate, Jim moved to Re/Max in 2014.  It is a great opportunity to work with a quality company, that has a great support team and excellent management. Therefore, he is enjoying his years at Re/Max!

Jim was top sales and listing agent ten of the thirteen years he was with the Raines Company. He left the Raines organization to become the sales manager of Bidwell White Company. While there, Jim received three Golden Ruler Awards from the Greater Lansing Board of Realtors that recognized his outstanding Practice of the Realtor Code of Ethics. Jim is very proud of this achievement.

Working with clients has always been Jim's greatest joy. Thus, his career continued to flourish during his next eleven years at BriarWood Realty. During that time his solid performance maintained Jim's rank in the top ten percent of all Lansing Area Realtors.

When BriarWood Realty dissolved in early 2008, Jim jumped at the chance to work with Julie Lawton-Essa at The Lawton Group. Jim believed that this smaller and much more service oriented company could help him provide the highest level of real estate services for his clients. When Jim joined The Lawton Group, all 28 of his listings moved with him, which was a great tribute to the service they had always received from Jim.

Jim stresses a philosophy of cooperation. He believes that it is always best to have a Win-Win Situation in every negotiating situation. Sometimes buyers/sellers/agents are not able or willing to practice that philosophy, but when possible, it is best for everyone.

Jim has been a community builder and player throughout his years in Lansing. In 1983, Jim was the Co-Founder of a spiritual center in Lansing called The Fellowship for Today where people of all faiths come together to celebrate the oneness of their lives and to join in what they practice in common. Jim was the music director for many years and still is one of the soloists and congregational music leaders in the center. He has also served in Israel and Palestine as a Peace Monitor who practiced the nonviolent traditions of Ghandi in settling differences. Jim has released music CDs called Songs of Forgiveness and Respect for All Living Things where he sings songs of composers from around the country with lyrics that celebrate all life on this planet and beyond.

You can count on dedicated work, ethical treatment, and honesty in working with Jim when you are selling or buying a home in the Greater Lansing community.
